Just like the one that married dear old Mom

I have been staying at my parents’ home for a number of weeks while my father is undergoing chemotherapy and radiation.

While here, I have been reminded daily of something that I have sorely missed in my life—a gentleman.

My father—even after nine-million years of marriage (53)—still opens doors for my mother, including the car door!

He doesn’t start eating his dinner until Mom has started eating. He even sets and clears the table (unless I beat him to it)! The television is not on while breakfast, lunch, or dinner is on the table, nor is a phone conversation carried on.

He holds her hand—and not just because he is weakened by the treatments.
At a restaurant, he orders AFTER her!

And here’s the kicker—they actually carry on conversations with each other—I’m talking real, honest-to-goodness adult conversations. They even laugh together. Uproariously.

Can you imagine that?

I can’t.

However, I do pray for it—a man just like the one that married dear old mom.
